Today is Ash Wednesday! For those who don’t know what it means, today marks the beginning of lenten period – a season of fasting and prayer – which leads up to Easter.

Christians, especially Catholics observe lent. Ash Wednesday is a day of repentance, when Christians confess their sins and profess their devotion to God.

Besides using ash to make a sign of the cross across the forehead today, it is common practice to give up meat on Fridays during lent.

In addition to giving up meat, some people give up their favorite things. In this new age, some give up social media.

If you’re participating in lent, what do you plan to give up?
