Probably the most important export out of the shores of Nigeria right now, Ayo Balogun popularly known Wizkid has dropped yet another track off his forthcoming album; this time featuring Wale Folarin (Nigerian Born American hiphop sensation) titled DROP.
This collaboration is heavy and many Nigerians have been sitting around waiting for it since pictures of the duo hanging out showed up on the internet a couple of days ago. We have heard his collaboration with Femi Kuti in Jaiye-Jaiye, and we here he is going to be featuring King Sunny Ade on his album too. Wizkid is working and work seems to be paying off.
If I am going to be a critic, i will say the song is “Ok” and considering the extreme hype that comes with a Wizkid track, it is going to be all over the place very soon. His songs generally grow on you the more you listen to it. Wale shows some flexibility in his lines as he tried to be a little Nigerian and i think he mentioned a few Yoruba words in his rap. Legendary Beatz ( The producer (s) is/are having a time of his/their life(s) right now, consistently dropping some nice production work in recent times mostly for Wizkid and this track is no exception.
Generally speaking, Nigerian music is getting the necessary push it needs to be on the world map of music. If Nigerian artistes continue to feature world known acts like Wale, Snoop dog and co; then soon enough the world will begin to pay attention, that’s if their ears aren’t tingling already.
Listen and Enjoy!!
